The acoustic guitar work on "Still" definitely sets a mood. Once Skoda’s vocal enters the track, I am transported into a sublime place. I really appreciate the tenderness to the song. It might be easy to mention comparisons to great folk singers of the 60s here, but honestly Skoda has her own style worth featuring. Give this song a spin, particularly if you fondly remember the Greenwich Village era of folk music. - Greg Jones
Dallas based New Ellum's steady release of new songs and videos is a way for them to build a fan base. Texas singer songwriter Mandy Prater brings you her new single, "On the Outside" a daydream about escaping lockdown during COViD-19 pandemic. Not intended to discourage social distancing guidelines but to follow your best known medical and scientific advice.
When the Pandemic closed down our city and they boarded up the iconic 6th street in Austin, a once vibrant music scene was rendered lifeless and devoid of the human connection. An intriguing supplement to their original material is a cover of Gillian Welch’s “Elvis Presley Blues.”
‘All My Life’ is the latest soulful driven release by Dallas’ own Paul Renna. In times of uncertainty one thing is certain, Paul Renna’s back, and back with a punch. The new track by Renna is a no mess about, balls to the wall, classic rock track. Everything fits as nicely as it should and the simplicity of the overall feel just works.
